Anonymous Servants Needed If you can help with setup on Thursday contact Jared Martin or Rick Stillwell. It takes a lot of hands and feet to get the camp ready for the weekend. Workers are also needed on Sunday for clean-up and put-away. Don’t forget your agape and snacks for the kids and I’m sure there are dishwashers needed in the kitchen. I pray that you will make it a priority to serve Chrysalis weekend. Our testimony this month comes from Ashley Curry. She is serving her second year as Preparation and has the additional task of Team Selection: Hello Emmaus and Chrysalis Community! My name is Ashley Curry. I attended the Chrysalis Flight #14, I sat at the table of F.R.E.E (Freely Rejoicing Everywhere Eternally) and I Worship at Trinity Assembly of God.
My story isn't anything like I was on drugs and God saved me or I backslid for 6 years and came back to the Lord or anything. Instead I tried to live my own life. I went to church every Sunday, Wednesday and sometimes even more for different activities. I just wanted things to work out the way I wanted. I didn't really know why I was on this earth or what I was supposed to do.
On January 2nd 2006, my senior year of high school, the last day of Christmas break, I was in a car accident. I was run off the interstate, and my car fishtailed. I overcorrected, flipped it 3 times in the air then rolled it and it stopped with my driver’s door in the ground. I blacked out at one point and just remember grabbing my cell phone and standing up and screaming for help! The only window that busted out was my front seat passenger window which is the one I got out of. My mom was out of town when all this happened and I felt so alone! I had to go to the hospital in an ambulance. I called my best friend; she and her mom came to the scene. By the time I got to the hospital it felt as if everyone I knew was there...
Through all of this God opened my eyes and showed me that he spared my life because he has an amazing plan for my life and just because I don't know what it is or when I will know doesn't mean I try to do it myself. It means to sit still and be faithful to him knowing he knows what he is doing and his time is perfect...In that car accident I wasn't hurt at all which is a huge praise! The 2004 Chrysler that was completely paid off was totaled. O I had some strained muscles and whiplash the next morning but the only visible thing was a broken acrylic fingernail!!! D I pray that we all live by a few of my favorite scriptures Jeremiah 29:11, Psalms 37:4, and most of all Proverbs 3:5-6!!! I love you all!!! Fly With Christ, Ashley Curry
Prayers Go Up – Blessing Come Down We have had the April Showers (of Blessings) and the recently concluded Men’s and Women’s walks are forever recorded in Heaven. It was so wonderful to see a great turnout for the community events surrounding both walks. With the second round of weekends at our new home completing soon, I hope you are feeling more comfortable with Camp Towles. I know I am getting more comfortable every time I drive on the grounds. It is truly a place where God Touches Hearts! The board is working on some of the scheduling issues that have come up and variances in our printed schedules so that we can make sure everyone is “singing from the same hymnal”. But we are also grateful to the weekend lay directors and the spiritual directors for their servant’s hearts during these wonderful Emmaus weekends. Please support the upcoming Chrysalis Flight with the same or greater degree of commitment, as our young people need to see us behind them 100%. You have heard it said but it bears repeating, we simply would not be able to hold Emmaus weekends without the dedicated help of our Chrysalis youth and we must show them the same level of support. We are ONE BODY! Praise the Lord forever. I also want to take a moment to let you know that it is once again time (every three years) to have the Upper Room Emmaus representatives come to our community for a meeting with the Board and a community wide event. We are looking at setting up a Friday night meeting with the Board and then a Saturday workshop with lunch involving the entire community. We don’t have the details yet and perhaps we will couple this event with a local training event for clergy, also sponsored by Upper Room Emmaus. I just wanted to let you know this is coming – perhaps in July or August so that you can be thinking and praying about it. The clergy qualifications to serve as Weekend Spiritual Directors and Assistants have been updated and all communities are moving into compliance with new rules. The training will be very helpful for our clergy in the community. More on both of these as details become available. Take time to look around you at the beauty of the Springtime! God is at work!! DeColores! Jim Harris Praise GOD. Thanks to all persons who prayed, attended, worked, walked and planned the recent walks at Camp Towles. The 72hr. prayer vigil was filled by Emmaus members and non-members alike from all over the globe. Please, don’t forget to sign up to pray for the upcoming Chrysalis walk which happens soon in June. Walks #69 & #70 will be here before we know it and please plan to attend and participate. These walks need support from everyone.
Sincerely, Mike Richards Once Again … Once again God has used the vehicle of The Walk to Emmaus to reach out and touch His people. Everyone that was involved in the weekends we just completed felt His presence and received a unique blessing. Each time as we go through the preparation process we struggle because of our human weakness and of course with the lies that the tempter whispers in our ear. But as we resist his temptations and persevere toward our goal our faith is strengthened. At closing when we hear the new members of the community answer the two infamous questions, we chastise ourselves for our moments of weakness and wonder why we ever doubted that God was in control. Our Heavenly Father has never failed to make each weekend special as He draws each person closer to Himself. I don’t believe that anyone has ever left a weekend on Sunday afternoon without being more in tune with the Lord than when they came on Thursday evening. This ministry has shown us over and over again that when we willfully place ourselves in His hands as His servants and let His love flow through us, miracles always happen in people’s lives. God is in control and, as long as we remember that and let Him have His way with us, lives are changed in wonderful ways. Let us all pray the we will always be willing to humbly serve Him and give Him all the praise and glory as the cycle starts all over again as we look forward to our fall walks. DeColores, Dan Brown Wanted: Reunion Group First, I want to welcome all the new community members and their families. We are blessed that you have come our way. I also want to thank those who are interested in joining a reunion group or are actively participating in one. As I stated during the 4th day follow-up meeting, my reunion group is at the Huttonsville Correctional Center. It takes place every Monday evening. I can't get there every Monday because of another meeting I have one Monday a month but it is a good strong group and I am only a part of it. My point is that I miss the personal witness of the other men on the nights I am not able to attend. It may seem like a lot to commit to a scheduled meeting but trust me, once you build those personal bonds with other believers; it is far from being a chore. Building a successful reunion group could be akin to building a successful marriage. It is all about commitment. Sometimes one or the other has to carry more of the load but if we work together, something beautiful and fulfilling will be the result. Please contact me if you are in a reunion group or are interested so I can solicit others in your area that are interested. While at my group this past Monday a young man asked me if there was a reunion group in the facility at Pruntytown. This is a need the community can fill. He (Daniel) said that the reunion group at HCC was very important to him and he was getting transferred to Pruntytown in the near future. I asked the Chaplain on the way out if he knew how many men who had been through Kairos were at Pruntytown and he said possibly around 50. I understand that Rev. Bert Coffman ministers there every week and maybe other Emmaus members but I know of no reunion group. I am looking for information from anyone who does now or is interested in going into the facility there on a regular basis. I would be willing to do whatever is needed to help get a group started. I have spoken with the Chaplain there and he seems like a very good man. We are also currently looking for members in the Parsons area who would be interested in joining a reunion group. Contact me at dmdmabie@gmail.com if you are interested.
Thanks, Dale Chrysalis is coming up soon and we need some things from the community. PRAYER Also we need your participation and sponsorship, participation in off-sight and to attend the weekend. Those kids are so touched by candlelight on Saturday night. It is like a light comes on for some of them who may feel disconnected from the body of Christ a generation older than them. The love closes the gap!!!! We also need you to make agape and PRAY. Please help in any way the Lord leads you. Thanks, Dale Our commissioning service is May 17, 5 pm at H&H Chapel. For those who would want to sponsor a caterpillar, there will be a sponsorship class at 4 pm there also. WE NEED CATERPILLARS. Plan now to send us some. The weekend dates are June 13-15. Thank you and God bless.
